Helping Him Get a Place to Stay

22:31 AppleDash_ ends up sleeping for most of the morning out in front of GyroTech's house, waking up just around noon. He tiredly gets to his hooves and stretches a bit, parts of him a bit sore from sleeping on the hard ground outside. After a little bit of waking up, he decides to go and do what he had planned to do as he had been talling asleep. He trots back over to Gyro's front door, deciding not to barge in and instead to knock first.

22:39 GyroTech was busy admiring a new design he'd just whipped up for a new crane safety mechanism, the same thing he'd been working on when AppleDash first bothered him the day before when his ears perk up at athe knock. The tried to think of wether he'd made any plans yet that day, but comes up blank. With a shrug he shuffles his papers around and heads downstairs, opening up the door with a cheery smile.

22:42 AppleDash_ waits patiently until GyroTech opens up the door, smiling back at the other stallion as soon as he does. "Hi there, Gyro... Please don't kick me out, I'm here to apologize..." he said quickly.

22:45 GyroTech 's smile quickly turns to a scowl as he sees who it is at his door. "Don't you have something better to do than bug me?" He asks, not looking forward to this "appology."

22:52 AppleDash_ sighs and shakes his head at GyroTech, his smile fading a bit but not going away entirely. "Not really. Anyways... I'm really sorry for deciding to use your porch as a place to sleep. I should've asked first and respected your answer."

23:08 GyroTech purses his face into a sceptical frown, raising an eyebrow. "And? Have you actually gone about fixing the issue so that I don't have to worry about something like that again? Cause right now, I'm feeling like you're stalking me. Spleeping under my porch...finding excuses to come into my home...following me?"

23:11 AppleDash_ sighs again at GyroTech, his smile fading further at the unicorn's words. "I don't have enough money for a house right now, and I don't have a job, either, so unless you're willing to let me sleep inside your house, or know another pony who is, I'm going to be sleeping outside. I'll find another place, though." He pauses for a moment, before sighing again and continuing. "And listen... I've already told you this... The whole reason I met you was because I decided to sleep under your porch. Not the other way around. And maybe I come into your home because I like being around you? When have I ever followed you anywhere?"

23:23 GyroTech narrows his eyes as AppleDash tries to guilt him in to a place to stay once more. "Look, go get a job or something. There's plenty of work on the docks, I'm sure they can find a use for a featherbrain like you. Perhaps keeping the winds down or something. Lots of weather work and plenty of manual labor. And then you can get a house without going broke. As far as following me? You sure seem to know what bars and all I like to hang out at..."

23:28 AppleDash_ shakes his head more at GyroTech. "Even if I did get a job like that, it would be awhile before I could save up enough to buy a house, even with the bits I have right now. If I wanted to rent an apartment or something, I'd need a better job than that if I want to keep it for long... Either way, I would still not have a house for awhile if I got a job like that. And did you say weather work? You realize I hate flying, right?"

23:38 GyroTech facehooves towards the stallion, displeased ast how he was refusing to act like a normal pony. "You don't go straight from homeless to a house, you have to take an intermediate step through an appartment, and if those jobs did not pay well enough, then how come all those dock workers arn't out on the streets huh?"

23:43 AppleDash_ continues shaking his head at GyroTech, frowning more and more. "Did you not just hear me? Jobs like that won'e pay well enough for me to rent an apartment for very long. Those dock workers are probably living with someone else or renting a room in someone elses house. Again, if you want to let me stay here, I'll try my best to get a job and start paying you as soon as I can."

23:52 GyroTech lets out an exaspirated sigh, glaring at appledash with his eyes squinted at the mere suggestion of him staying there. "No, you may not stay with me. 'Oh dear we're going to have to go back to your place because I've got a roommate at home who's there,' is not something I want to tell any potiential dates. Just get a roommate or something if you're worried about not being able to afford a small flat."

23:57 AppleDash_ looks at GyroTech, honestly confused at what he was saying. "...What? It's not like I'd be sleeping with you... You can bring whoever you want here and I'll stay out of the way. I don't really know anyone who I'd be comfortable staying with, other than you. Anyways, I'm not really complaining about not having a house... If you don't want to provide me somewhere to stay or help me find somewhere, I'll just find somewhere else to sleep outside, until I can get a place."

00:02 GyroTech tils his head at the stallion, looking like he thought he was stupid, "Sure, I mean, yes you wouldn't be sleeping with me, but you'd be sleeping in the same house as me and that makes everything awkward. Just troll the public notice boards. Someone will be looking for a roommate, and then find a job. Dont just sleep outside though...thats not good for a pony."

00:04 AppleDash_ shakes his head once more. "I'd rather stay with someone I already know, or by myself. Anyways, I didn't come here to argue about where I'm sleeping, I came here to apologize to you. I hope you can accept my apology..."

00:11 GyroTech grunts in response with a blank mask on his face giving AppleDash no way of knowing how the stallion was feeling. "We'll see...I'm not sure you're going to quit annoying me, and I don't want you sleeping near me. Thats just creepy."

00:14 AppleDash_ sighs at GyroTech again as he speaks. "Depends on your definition of annoying you... I've already said I'm not going to do anything bad again, and I told you I'm not going to sleep under your house anymore... And what's so creepy about me sleeping on your couch or something? It'd be just like any other pony having any other other pony as a room mate. I'd pay you well... And besides, you can lock your bedroom door or something if you're that worried."

00:20 GyroTech shakes his head adamnatly, "I don't want a roommate, especially not from you. The only time I'd share a house is if I ever decide that I /really/ like someoen enough to settle down, but not even Inky qualifies at the moment. And anyways, you sleeping in plane view on teh couch would be awful. If I ever agreed to something like this you'd be in the spare..."

00:26 AppleDash_ thinks for a moment as GyroTech speaks, having a bit of an idea. "Wait, you have a spare? Then that makes things even easier... Couldn't I just stay in there when you need me to? You could just ignore me and I could just sleep in there when I need to. If you really wanted to ignore me, I guess I could even use the window to enter... And if you bring anyone over, I can just stay up there the whole time and not bother you at all!" he said, obviously willing to try anything to convince Gyro to let him stay at his house.

00:32 GyroTech looks much less enthused about the idea than AppleDash, shaking his head. "No, I don't think that would work at all. I'd still know that you are in my house and I just wont stand for that. I don't want to see you most of the time and am tolerating you at the moment. Go bug another pony to stay with them, cause I won't let that h appen."

00:35 AppleDash_ goes back to frowning as GyroTech denies his idea. "Aww... Are you sure? There's no way I could get you to let me stay here? Like I said before, I don't really know anyone that well other than you, and I don't even know you all that well at all."

00:38 GyroTech shrugs at AppleDash uncaringly. "And I dont knwo you very well, and what I do know is that you don't actually respect me, so why should I let you stay at my house, especially when it will come at great cost to me."

00:42 AppleDash_ sighs once more, continuing to frown at the stallion in front of him. "But maybe it'd be a way for us to get to know each other better... And believe it or not, I do respect you now, even if my actions in the past didn't exactly demonstrate that... And wny would me staying here come at great cost to me? I already said I'd pay you and I wouldn't bother you, especially if you had anyone over.."

00:49 GyroTech clasps the door in a hoof, looking like he's about to close it on the stallion, "What part of no don't you understand? If you respected me as you claimed, you'd respect me descisions as well. I dont' want a stallion a barely know, who has done things in the past, living under my roof, or my porch, or near my yard..."

00:52 AppleDash_ shakes his head as GyroTech puts his hoof on the door, not wanting the conversation to end just yet. "No, don't go... Fine, if I can't live at your house, can you at least help me find somewhere to live? Preferably a pony who you know and trust who would be willing to rent me a room? I think I trust your judgement..."

00:56 GyroTech looks down, defeated by AppleDash's persistence before finally acquiessing. "Fine...I'll help you find some place to stay. Follow me..." THe unicorn say, making his way towards the center of town.

00:59 AppleDash_ stops frowning, although he doesn't smile just yet. "Really? Great! Like I said, I'd really prefer if it was with somepony you knew. I don't like the idea of staying with some random pony." he says, following GyroTech as he talks.

01:03 GyroTech shrugs at AppleDash's words as he walks, not having any intention of putting him up with a close friend. "Well, I'm aquainted with quite a few of the dock workers. I'm not going ot pull any favors for you because I'd feel bad about saddling anypony who didn't want roomates with you."

01:07 AppleDash_ sighs as he continues to walk with the stallion. "Listen, if you're not going to find me someone to stay with, who you already know well and trust, then I might as well just continue sleeping on the streets. I don't want to stay with any random pony!"

01:13 GyroTech shrugs at athe stallion uncaringly, "Look, just because I'm not close personal friends with anypony doesn't mean that they're bad people. I work with many of them on the docks. I won't set you up with anypony I distrust..."

01:19 AppleDash_ shakes his head at GyroTech. "It's not only that I want someone trustworthy... I'd also like it if I would be staying with somepony who I'd get along with, and I think that you'd be at least partially able to determine that with someone you're good friends with..."

01:28 GyroTech rolls his eyes, not that AppleDash can tell since the stallion is leading the way. "Look, You already admitted that we don't know each other very well. What makes you think that I can choose anyone your compatible with." They finally reach the board, at which point the unicorn begins to look it over.

01:35 AppleDash_ just continues following GyroTech until they reach the board, frowning the whole way. "So perhaps we should get to know each other better, like I've been wanting this whole time. If I just wanted to read a notice board, I would've done it myself..."

01:41 GyroTech shakes his head and takes a seat in front of the board, looking it over. He crosses his hooves, turning to look back at AppleDash, "I'm not going to be friends with a homeless pony who seems to want to remain homeless. Such a pony would be wrong in the head. Now shut up and help me find you a place to stay."

01:45 AppleDash_ sighs and watches as GyroTech looks over the board. "You seriously think I want to STAY homeless? Not at all, I just want to find some place to live that I won't dislike living in as much as I dislike living outside." he says, moving to sit down next to Gyro and somewhat glance at the board, not really reading anything on it, though.

01:51 GyroTech spots an ad and pulls it down off the board to look it over. "Oh hey, its seastar. Apperently she's looking for a roommate. I've had a couple pretty good times with her, she's a real fun, salty mare. Why don't you give her a try?" The uniocnr passes the sheet of paper over to AppleDash.

01:54 AppleDash_ takes the paper from GyroTech but continues to stare up at the stallion. "Are you /really/ judging potential roommates for me by the 'good times' you've had with them?" he sighs, looking down at the paper in his hooves and reading it over since he didn't really have anything better to do with it.

01:57 GyroTech shrugs and looks over the board for any other offers that seem to catch his fancy. "Hey, it means that I was happy enough with them to invite them back over to my house for a second evening, and more than that actually, so I like her."

02:00 AppleDash_ shrugs also as GyroTech speaks. "Well, whatever... I guess I'm willing to stay with someone if you like them, but still, what if it doesn't work out for me?"

02:07 GyroTech smiles finally, feeling a little more satidfied as AppleDash relents, agreeing to at least check out Seastar. "Well, I'm sure you'll get along, but even if you don't, well, then I guess you find a different person to room with. She's a really cute mudpony who works out on one of the supply ships ferrying things between the anchored ships and the pier."

02:12 AppleDash_ nods at GyroTech, at least frowning less as he looks at him. "I hope so... I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Even if it does work out, what about getting me a job? I can't live off the bits I have saved up forever."

02:13 GyroTech sighs and points a hoof out towards teh docks. "Even if you hate flying, join the coastal weather squad until you find something better to do. You cant fully hate heights having lived in cloudsdale..."

02:16 AppleDash_ quickly shakes his head at GyroTech's suggestion. "No... I don't think I can do that. The whole reason I left cloudsdale was because of what happened to cause me to hate flying and heights."

02:21 GyroTech perks his ears up curiously at what the stallion says, eager to listen. "Oh? What happened in cloudsdale to make you afraid of flying? I've got to know."

02:25 AppleDash_ shakes his head at GyroTech's asking. "No... I don't really like to talk about it that much. Perhaps if I get to know and trust you a bit better, then I might be willing to tell you the story. Or, who knows, maybe with enough time I'll be willing to talk about it. It did happen rather recently..."

02:30 GyroTech lets out a long sigh and shakes his head sadly, "Well, if you cant get over that, you best go ahead and start a job as a manual labor until you're all settled in. I hope you and Seastar get along. WHy don't we part ways while you go talk to her?"

02:32 AppleDash_ shrugs. "I guess... I still would much rather have a job I actually like. Paying well enough to have my own place would also be nice. And what, you want me to go see her right now? I guess. I don't really have anything better to do."

02:37 GyroTech nods at the stallion, "Well, yes, everypony would prefer a job they enjoy, but its one of those things. You gotta make compromises till the ideal job comes along. Now go talk to Seastar. Hopefully, she'll work something out with you."

02:40 AppleDash_ sighs once more at GyroTech, before nodding. "Fine, I guess I can go and do that... But I'm coming back to your house to tell you how it worked out when I'm done."

02:43 < GyroTech> "Alright, fine by me I suppose. Its not liek I didn't expect to hear back from you..."

02:46 AppleDash_ nods once more at GyroTech. "Well, I guess I'll see you later, then." he says. He looks at the paper he was holding, a moment later realizing that he had no idea where the given address was. "Wait... I don't know where this is... Could you take me there or give me directions at least?"

02:52 GyroTech gives AppleDash the proper directions and sets him on his way before heading home himself, hopefully not to be botehered for a little bit whilst he decides to take an afternoon nap.

02:57 AppleDash_ thanks GyroTech and goes on his way, eventually ending up at the right destination after a little bit of wandering and getting lost. He meets the mare in question and talks with her, eventually ending up getting the room. Now all he had to do was find a job if he wanted to keep that room...
