A Little Magic Enhancement

17:03 GyroTech was working loudly in his workshop, the sounds of metal being worked on echoing all around. Dusk could tell why he was located so far from the other ponies. The smell of hot metal comes out from under the door crack and out of a chimeny on top.

17:09 Dusk sighs and waits patiently outside the door before knocking again. Suddenly it strikes her that knocking probably isn't going to work with all of the noise. She flies around in an attempt to spot Gyro through any of the windows.

17:12 GyroTech pounding away at some metal and his horn glowed a bright green that also envelopped the object. It glowed red hot and it seemed that the unicorn was trying to fashion a gear out of it. He wore a pair of dark green earmuffs and a look of concentration on his face.

17:18 Dusk sees Gyro working diligently at the anvil. She ponders for a minute how she's going to get inside before going back to the door and pushes on it. Oddly enough it opened right up resulting in a facehoof from the pegasus.

17:23 GyroTech quits pounding on the hear and looks it over, rotating it magically to make sure everything was right. Giving it a nod he casts one more spell, causing the metal to hiss as it cooled rapidly, its heat instead radiating into the rest of the room, heating the whole shop up by a couple of degrees. He turns away, still working the spell only to notices a familiar pegasus. "Oh, hey Dusk, didnt see you come in," he says slipping his muffs off his ears. All around the shop, about the size of a house, there were various machines in both finished and uncompleted states as well as metal scrap and wood laying about everywhere. Near the unicorn himself, there was an anvil and a workbech covered with all sorts of tools. That appeared to be the /only/ organized part of the entire shop.

17:28 Dusk Smiles. "Hey there!" She looks around at the contents of the shop and the back at the slightly grimed up unicorn in from of her. "Wow, I didn't realize what exactly you meant when you said workshop, but this is impressive."

17:33 GyroTech chucks at her reaction. "Well, I /did/ say that I built heavy machinery I believe. Much of what I build goes on the local ships here, but I like experimenting a little. I even have one machine that allows me to fly, albeit for not very long." He leads her over to what looks like a helicopter powered by pedals. Its a very lightweight composite looking frame with two contra rotating propellers on top and no prop on the tailshaft. All the drive shafts are plainly exposed as well, giving a clear look at how it works. "Unfortunatly...I cant work out a light enough mechanism to prevent a tired pony from falling yet."

17:38 Dusk ponders for a second "You tried a parachute or a pair of foldable wings for gliding?" She looks the contraption over. "And what about the gearing ratios for the reduction gears? You could add an extra set of gears to allow somepony whose tired to lower themselves slowly."

17:42 GyroTech nods at her suggestions. "I've considered a parachute...but every way I conceive of deploying it seems like it would result in destroying the blades or tangling. As far as reduction gears go, you must know that a certain amount of power is needed to retain flight...but wings...thats not a bad idea actually..."

17:46 Dusk smiles "Well as far as reduction gears go it would just be to take the load off. It would still maintain enough torque to keep the blades generating lift, but not enough to maintain flight. Resulting in a slowed controlled fall."

17:49 GyroTech says, "I'll see about gliding first...that composite will probably weigh less and be more effective than complicating the current gearing system." Gyro lights up as he remembers something. "Oh, I just remembered, I have a couple of artifacts that my girlfriend found awhile back that you might be interested in. Follow me." The unicorn heads out towards a door that opens into his actual house.

17:55 Dusk follows closely still looking around "Oh? I'd be happy to take a look! You're place still impresses me."

18:02 GyroTech gives a happy nod, "Yep, Moon Tear and I have been dating for a couple months now. She's really sweet." Gyro's house is fairly ornately decorated, and on a couple of pieces she sees a crest that she might recognise as belonging to the 'Silverhoof' family back in canterlot, one of the noble houses. He leads her upstairs and rummages through a closet. "I think you'll like these."

18:15 Dusk nods "I see." She ponders the crest that she swears she remebers seeing somewhere. "Where did you get that? I know I've seen that somewhere. Are you...related to the royals?" (She would probably know what the crest is at the very least)

18:18 GyroTech begins to twitch nervously at the mentioning of the crest, his tail swishing about. "Oh that...its just some furniture I borrowed from my family. No ones royal here." He says, slightly uncomfrotably. Its obvious he's not telling the full story.

18:23 Dusk raises her eyebrow and shakes her head "Alright then. You find them yet?" She walks around behind you to peer into the closet as well.

18:27 GyroTech pulls out a white robe, encrusted with 5 different colored gems on the collar as well as a golden horn ring with a green stone on it. "I dont know where she found these artifacts but they're pretty cool. The robe hear seems to use unicorn magic to throw up sheilds automatically, even when the unicorn in question wouldn't be able to cast those spells. And this ring is an amplification ring. Its not a /very/ powerful one, only helps with telekinesis, but it also leached magic from a creature of magic...so thats not quite usual." The artifacts themselves looked quite old, and yet still in great condition.

18:31 Dusk nods "Speaking of amplification." She takes off her saddlebags and opens a pouch on the side, taking out a small metal box. "Remember that prototype I told you I'd try to make?" She opens the box and reveals a golden ring inside.

18:34 GyroTech watches excitedly as she pulls out the ring. "Oooh, that looks pretty cool." He looks over the ring for a couple fo seconds before tilting his head down, making it much easier for Dusk to don it onto him.

18:36 Dusk slips it on his horn "I'd try something along the lines of a area of effect spell or something of the like. That's what I had in mind when I focused it." She steps back a bit.

18:40 GyroTech puts a hoof to his mouth in thought. "Hmm...and area of affect spell...I don't actually know any of those...my magic is really best at shaping and cutting objects and heating and cooling them...but its all target--Actually maybe I could try to affect the room. Gyro begins to emit a green glow, concentrating on chilling the room they were currently in. Usually working below room temperature wasnt something he could accomplish very well, and he'd never been able to do more than targeted spells.

18:46 Dusk watches as the green aura creating a field around the ring and it emitting what looks like a green mist throughout the room. She shivers a bit as the temperature does start to change in the room "It looks like it's working!"

03:53 GyroTech sweats with concentration as the room continues to cool down, soon reaching a chilly 40 degrees, a far cry from the warm summer sun outside. At that point, he lets the spell drop. "W-wow...I've never been able to affect a room like that...nor work below room temperature..."

23:42 Dusk looks around as she starts to see her breath "Wow. That's a lot better than I expected!"

23:45 GyroTech is breathing heavy and sweating hard despite the cold. "Well...it did take alot out of me. But still this is kinda neat. I wonder if I can actually melt steal now. That would be intersting."

23:47 Dusk nods "I don't know. Remember it's still just a prototype. I might not have gotten it focused right." She inspects the ring on his horn closely

23:49 GyroTech lowers his head down so that she can look at at the horn ring a little better. "How do you even know how you get the focus right? Enchanting was never something I was any good at at school."

23:51 Dusk says, "That's not my specialty. That's Guily's job. He forged the ring for you. However if you look at it closely you'll notice the intricate runes that I layed out for it. It's a complex process of trial and error, but eventually it works"

23:52 GyroTech gives her a skeptical look, "Really? Its just trial and error? Is there no formula or anything like that to help determine this sort of stuff?" He huffs, "I guess this is why I'm a mechanical pony."

23:54 Dusk smiles and looks at him "Not all of it is trial and error, the initial design is layed out, but getting it worked out to perfection is. Not being able to test it myself is also an issue, but you've sort of solved that problem."

23:55 GyroTech seems a bit dejected. "This means it wont really get spread around to everypony huh? If it takes /that/ much work to even get it set for a single pony... Still...I'm happy to be a ginea pig so long as you promise I won't blow up or anything like that."

23:57 Dusk nods "Oh no the next thing to see is if mass production works. To see if each one has to be unique. But no. You won't explode."

00:01 GyroTech puts a hoof to his chin. "Well...has any other pegaus you've tried been able to cast nonweather magics?"

00:02 Dusk Says, I haven't tried in on another pegasus yet. I have tried it with a batpony, but it didn't do much.

00:04 GyroTech Says "Well...the magics are pretty close between the two...That may present a problem. How'd you guess what would work for me anyways? I dont' remember telling you what I was good at."

00:05 Dusk nods "I know, but I decided to focus on a unicorn's general ability to cast spells and decided to make it enhance a field effect be spreading the flux."

00:07 GyroTech nods along pretending to understand Dusk, trying to hide his puzzled expression. "Oh...ummm...ok."

00:11 GyroTech 's face lights up excitedly and hugs her tight, giving her a gently nuzzle on her neck. "Oh thank you so much, thats so sweet of you."

00:13 Dusk smiles and looks down at the stallion "You're very welcome. I'll be sure to get you a more refined version of it. I'll probaly forge it myself so that I can actually do all of the intricate work, but it might be a while because I'm not so good at it."

00:17 GyroTech me pulls away slightly and looks her in the eye happily, "Oh you would?" He leans in and gives her a peck on the lips. "That would be so awesome," he says, hugging her even tigher against him now.

00:19 Dusk smiles and blushes before she returns the embrace "Mhm"

00:22 GyroTech loosens up the hug a little bit as she hugs back, enjoying her sweet fur pressed against his body, but taking care to be sensitive enough to let go when she was ready.

00:24 Dusk puts her hooves back on the ground and continues to give the stallion a beaming smile

00:26 GyroTech smiles back, sighing before suddenly perking up as he remembers why he brought her up here. Hastily the unicorn puts on the white robe. "So as I said, this artifact is kind of cool. Throw something at me."

00:29 GyroTech just grins at the bags come sailing at him. Just a couple inches before they touch, they hit a green barrier that suddenly flashes up with seamingly no intervention from the unicorn and deflect to the side. "So...I actually have no clue how to cast a barrier spell..." he admits, grinning at the display.

00:31 Dusk looks at it in wonder "That's really cool! I'd have a hunch that the spell feeds off of the user's magic and has a self conatianing spell matrix."

00:32 GyroTech gives a little nod at her words. "I don't know about that second part, but yes, unless I pour energy into the crystals ahead of time, it does take energy out of me. I tried to give it to an earth pony once to test...but she got hit with sandbags instead of it activating."

00:34 Dusk nods "I see. Would you mind me taking it back with me? If not that's fine. I'm just quite intrigued by it." She continues inspecting it as it drapes over the stallion

00:37 GyroTech thinks about it for a second. "Can you promise me that any testing you do will be nondestructive? It is a /very/ old artifact and has saved my skin once." He begins to remove the white robe and fold it up.

00:38 Dusk nods "Of course! As you wish, it shouldn't be required anyway"

00:43 GyroTech packs the robe into Dusks saddle bag. "The other artifact isn't nearly as impressive as the first...though I wonder..." He slips the second horn ring around his horn, the golden object resting on top of the first. His horn glows, and his very heavy wooden dresser glows, but nothing actually seems to happen, despite Gyro's heavy concentration.

00:44 Dusk watches and walks over to the dresser "I wonder why it doesn't work."

00:47 GyroTech lets out a sigh and slips both of them off before putting on the one he already had. "Well...maybe two rings can't actually function at the same time? I don't know..." He tries again, this time lifting the dresser off the ground with some effort, but it does actually move this time.

00:49 Dusk furrows her brow "Hmm...maybe an error of mine."

00:51 GyroTech raises an eyebrow at her. "An error of yours? How so? I couldn't actually lift that without the assistance of that ring anyways."

00:52 Dusk blushes and shakes her head "Nothing, I'm just talking to myself"

00:55 GyroTech giggles at the blush. "You're face looks even cuter with a tint of rose," he compliments sweetly, giving her his charming smile.

00:56 Dusk blushes harder and looks down "T-thank you..." She crosses her forehooves

01:00 GyroTech walks up to her and gives her a peck on the cheek. "No, thank you, for gracing me with your prescence and for baring gifts. I'm happy to see such a wonderful mare again."

01:02 Dusk smiles and perks up her ears "And thank you for having me over. It was a pleasure to be here. I'll be sure to be careful with this as I delve into its secrets."

01:06 GyroTech frowns a little bit. "You're not heading out so soon are you? I was just about to sit down for lunch. I've got a vegitable soup thats been simmering for a couple hours now. My table's well anchored, so I promise it won't be a repeat of the spaghetti incident," He jokes.

01:08 Dusk giggles and shakes her head "I'll stay as long as I'm wanted. I'm not going to just up and leave unles you have something that you had to go and do."

01:13 GyroTech brightens up as she agrees to stay. "Oh, I'm so glad to you'll stay for lunch. Follow me downstairs." As they walk into the living room, the scent of the soup fills the room, a tangy delicous smell. The sound of slight bubbling can be heard from the kitchen.

01:15 Dusk murrs softly as the smell wafts towards her nose "It smells rather good." (Btw. Going to bed sometime. I've had a long day as you know. Dunno when though.)

01:20 GyroTech grins widly and leads her into the dining room "Its even better than it smells, I promise you." He Places the pot on a coaster in the center and two bowls in the seats next to each other. He pulls out her chair and fills her bowl. "Enjoy." The soup was a tomatoe based one with noodles and an assortment of chunks of vegitables in it, with a tangy sweet flavor.

01:21 Dusk sits down and looks the meal over before trying a sip of it. "Mmm!" She nods at Gyro before swallowing "It is good!"

01:24 GyroTech takes a seat next to her and pours himself a bowl, taking a bit himself. "Thanks, made it myself." He turns to look at her as he eats. "How have you been getting on in town since I first caught you?"

01:26 Dusk smiles and looks over at him "Well, I've met a few other ponies and I've gotten set up at my own place. I've been trying to talk to everyone I meet though."

01:32 Dusk nods "I am staying with him, but he's going to be away for a while so I'm taking care of the place. I've met inky. She's the batpony I was referring to when I said I let someone else try out my bracelet." She finishes before taking another sip of the soup, decicively not mentioning her and Burning Heart just yet.

01:36 GyroTech munches happily on his soup as she speaks. "Well she's a pretty nice mare, extremly enthusiastic about everything. You must meet the others though. You said ponies though. Any other intersting characters you've met?"

01:39 Dusk smiles as she swallows "I've met an interesting pony whose certainly been nice. I don't know that you know them though, seeing as they are almost as new as them."

01:42 GyroTech giggles at her, "Well, try me. I get around quite a bit and meet lots of new ponies." The unicorn had finished his portion of soup and served himself another bowl, double checking on hers to make sure it was still good.

01:43 Dusk nods after taking another sip "His name is Burning Heart. He's a rather sweet stallion."

01:45 GyroTech shakes his head. "Nope cant say I've met him before, but if he's as nice as you say, perhaps I ought to give him a welcome. Where does he live?"

01:46 Dusk looks up and blushes "Um....w-with me."

01:47 GyroTech stops eating his soup and looks at her stunned. "Did your friend just happen to have some other pony staying with them?" He asks hopefully.

01:49 Dusk shakes her head "No I sort of took him in. He...was out wandering the town aimlessly and needed to change his bandages. So I helped him out."

01:51 GyroTech begins to look a little worried, "So...hes just some random hobo you took in? Dusk...that could be dangerous..." he says and strokes her mane in concern.

01:54 Dusk nods in understanding. "I-I know...but he needed help and didn't appear, to my judgement at least, to be any sort of dangerous. He even took me out...on...a date for it."

01:58 GyroTech unicorn gets a little sad at the mention of him dating her and pulls away some. "A d-d-date? Are you two now dating then? Just be careful Dusk...I don't want you getting hurt."

02:00 Dusk shakes her head "I don't know yet, I've only just met the pony. We'll see."

02:04 GyroTech lets out a sigh of relief. "Oh ok good, just take it slow...and keep an eye on him. Letting someone into your house like that is a big step."

02:05 Dusk nods "I know. We'll see what comes of it. I'm not trying to rush into things."

02:06 GyroTech notices her bowl is empty and lifts up the ladle. "Do you want anymore? There's plenty if you'd like."

02:09 Dusk shakes her head "Nah I'm fine thank you though. I think I'm going to go ahead and head home. If you want to visit some time and see my progress you certainly can."

02:12 GyroTech feels a little bit dispointed but gets up with her. "Well if you must go..." Looking at her he scrunches his nose. "Oh, you've got something right there." He gives her a lick right across the tip of her nose, licking the soup off, and then grins back at her, a little bit of soup on his muzzle as well.

02:16 Dusk giggles and blushes "Y-you...have some too" She nips it off of your muzzle

02:18 GyroTech blushes and allows his lips to meet hers as she nips it off

02:19 Dusk blushes furiously and looks into your eyes, still holding the gentle kiss

02:20 GyroTech looks deep into her eyes and parts his lips slightly, allowing his tongue to press against her own, murring happily.

02:23 Dusk freezes up, her feelings still really mixed, and continues gazing into his eyes.

02:24 GyroTech holds there for just a little bit but not pressing any further, catching her hesitation, preparing to pull away if she doesn't return the gesture in a couple of seconds.

02:25 Dusk gasps as she realizes that she had frozen up and pulls back, breaking the kiss gently "I-i'm...sorry I don't know..."

02:27 GyroTech pulls back as she does so, sighing with a small frown accross his face. "I-its ok. I'm not going to pressure you to do anything you dont want to do." He stands there awkwardly, blushing brightly now.

02:28 Dusk looks up at him "I...you...her..." She looks down still blushing furiously

02:32 GyroTech shrinks back a little as she mentions his girlfriend. "She lets me lets me enjoy other ponies company, but not too much..." he admits. "It could never be anything serous between us though..."

02:32 Dusk nods swiftly "I...just didn't want to be a bother...or intrude on you two"

02:34 GyroTech lets out a sigh. "Well...you certainly arn't bothering me...but I understand..."

02:35 Dusk looks up at him "If you're sure it doesn't bother her...I don't mind, but I didn't know"

02:38 GyroTech gives her a little nod, "Yep its fine...but I think I'm keeping you too long now...You did say you needed to head home after all. Why don't you think on it." He puts a hoof lightly on her shoulder

02:39 Dusk walks up and gives him a quick peck "Thank you! I'll be back again soon. Ok?"

02:40 GyroTech grins brightly at the peck, lifting his mood up once more. "Sure thing, though you never did tell me where you are...I wanna be able to visit you after all."

02:42 Dusk smiles and nods "You know the Summer Hills complex by the market? I live on the third floor."

02:46 GyroTech gives an affirmative nod. "I suppose I'll see you there soon. I gotta meet this sizzling heart fello to see if he's a decent pony."

02:49 Dusk nods and smiles before trotting off and out of the door. "Cya!" She opens her wings and takes off swiftly.

02:50 GyroTech watches with a grin on his face as the mare takes flight, her tail swaying in the wind.
