15:18 GyroTech GyroTechs around.

15:20 Zuthal Zuthals around

15:25 GyroTech takes a perch on the tatzl's back as he does so, to learn the art of Zuthaling.

15:25 Zuthal sings the song of his people

15:26 GyroTech covers his ears to not have to listen to what he considers screeching.

15:27 Zuthal puts GyroTech off of his back, looks at him and opens his mouth wide in a terrifying, inequine roar

15:31 GyroTech shouts in fear and backs away... Into a tree)

15:32 Zuthal approaches the tree and lets out another roar, this time right up against his face

15:36 GyroTech wipes his snout as it gets splattered with the tatzl's spit, shivering against the wall. "Cmon, be nice to me! '

15:37 Zuthal closes his jaw again with a slight chuckle. "Oh, I just wanted to show you what kind of noises I really can make, as you seemed to not like my singing."

15:40 GyroTech leans forward and finishes drying his snout on Zuthal's chest. 'Well it sounds all strange and stuff, like the chaos of birds twittering away at each other.

15:41 Zuthal pushes the stallion away as he rubs his snout on his chest. "Hmmph. When I first learned YOUR language, I thought just the same thing about it."

15:46 GyroTech falls on his rump against the tree. "Well it is the best language out there, so I guess it's good that you can speak it for the most part. Yours still sounds way better than the guttural uderances of the stripeys when they havn't been exposed to civilized speak."

15:49 Zuthal gives an indignant snort and deliberately looks away from the stallion. "Why did I expect something like that out of you? Well, anyways... I don't have any experience as to what Zebra sounds like, but I do know what Griffon sounds like, and that I have to say is not that pleasant to listen to. It sounds quite... aggressive. Though it can also have its beauty. You haven't heard shouting until you've heard an angry griffon."

15:53 GyroTech giggles a bit at that remark, shaking his head. "I've met plenty an angry griffon, just havn't had the misfortune of hearing their language yet. You try telling a griffon captain he can't leave port because his vessel is unfit for duty. I always drag a guard along with me before breaking the news. They always look like they want to ear me. "

15:55 Zuthal lets out a small chuckle. "Well, you do look quite tasty, and you actually are. But yes, I spent a few months in a village on the griffon border. Even learned a little bit of griffon... including some things you definitely wouldn't say in polite company."

16:08 GyroTech looks at him, tilting his head at the stallion. "Are you even equipped to say such things? I would imagine your Umm... Appendages might make that difficult."

16:09 Zuthal shrugs. "You mean my coils? Well, yes, it is difficult. But I can sorta do it. Nothing like the real thing, though. It's just like you ponies can try to speak our language, but there will just be some sounds you won't ever be able to create."

16:13 GyroTech hmmms at Zuthal, shaking his head. "Well I'd have to have a desire to learn something other than the only worthwhile language anyway." Changing the subject, he comments, "and you survived living with griffons? I'm surprised they didn't mistake you for an /actual/ pony and have you for supper...."

16:15 Zuthal gives a little snort, shaking his head. "Oh, most griffons aren't that bad. And honestly, I think I'd have fared better had they been able to just take me for a normal pony. Though it might of course also be them having been mellowed out somewhat, by virtue of living on the border. The village was about half and half pony and griffon. Though they are on average more aggressive and have a shorter temper than ponies."

16:17 GyroTech shakes his head, looking thoroughly unconvinced. "But what about all those stories one hears about ponies going missing mysteriously in griffon country? They can't be without merit. I'd never want to go there.

16:20 Zuthal gives another snort and another shake of his head. "Well, they are pretty much all meat-eaters, yes. But at least in the border region, they usually stick to stuff like fish or pork. Might be different in the core regions of the kingdom, and might have also been different in the past. But you don't have to believe everything ponies tell you."

16:26 GyroTech shudders quite a bit in visceral disgust at the mention of them being meat eaters. "Ugh that's just so wrong...I hate going on the fishing vessels that sometimes show up here. Always one or two of them in Port to keep the griffons away from other sources of 'meat'."

16:31 Zuthal shrugs, honestly not understanding the stallion's reaction. "I don't see what's so bad about it. With us, it is perfectly normal. A large part of that is necessity, our homeland isn't really that suitable for growing plants and stuff, so we have to take what we can get."

16:50 GyroTech gags when Zuthal mentions he eats meat as well. "Eww gross. Meats just... No its wrong to kill living things for food. We're civilized, unlike the natural beasts. And homeland? What homeland? I know my geography well enough and we never covered any strange pseudoponies with three gross slimy tongues.

16:53 Zuthal shakes his head a bit. "That is one thing about you ponies I'll never understand. And as for our homeland... well, it is pretty far away from here, roughly to the southeast, a few weeks' flight at full speed. It's mostly in the terrain somewhere between barren and dry grass- and shrubland. As I said, not good for growing plants."

17:16 GyroTech rolls his eyes at Zuthal, shaking his head. "All the way out towards dragon country? Must be a small group if we don't have any treaties with yall...And I suppose your too good for grass and hay huh? Grass is plenty alright..."

18:05 Zuthal snorts. "We are quite hidden, and tend to stay out of any sort of conflicts or diplomatic relationships. That is the upside of being a relatively small group, the larger powers tend to not bother with you. And if you knew what the conditions there were like, you'd know that no populations of any size larger than maybe one or two dozen or so could exist there and stay solely vegetarian, except as a nomadic society. And we also need more nutrients, both in terms of amount as well as in terms of diversity, than we could get just from grass and hay. And besides, I don't think YOU would be happy eating just grass, right?"

18:12 GyroTech rolls his eyes at the stallion and shrugs. "I kinda figured you would be nomadic if you managed to avoid getting swept up into diplomatic relationships. I know ponies can survive well enough on grass and hay even if it's not the tastiest thing in the world. I've eaten my fair share of the stuff," he responds dodging the question, "Anyways it's much better than resorting to barbaric tactics."

18:15 Zuthal shakes his head at that. "No, no, we are settled down. Though out homes are mostly either built into cliffsides or actually underground, because it can get quite hot there during the day. And the way I see the whole meat thing, it is necessary. And it also tastes really good."

18:21 GyroTech sticks out his tongue and opens his mouth in a bleh face when Zuthal mentions meat again. "Alright seriously, can we please stop talking about that? I think I'm going to be sick to my stomach." He turns away from the stallion, trying to push the thought from his mind.

18:22 Zuthal shrugs. "Sure. But let me just say that you should give it a try. You might change your opinion then. But what else should we change the topic to?" The tatzlpony looks up into the sky, watching the clouds slowly drift by.

18:31 GyroTech imagines eating meat and then feeling even more queasy causing him to dry have in front of Zuthal. Fortunately he hadn't eaten I awhile and nothing comes up. His ears and tail are drooped.

18:33 Zuthal looks at the stallion dry heaving in front of him, not with pity per se, but ruther with something like disappointment in his reaction in his eyes. "You okay?"

18:46 GyroTech sits there for about a minute before he finally manages to recover, shaking his head. "No I... No more or maybe I will find something to bring up. I'm feeling sick enough as it is," he moans out. "Where can I get some water around here anyway?"

18:50 Zuthal looks around for a bit and then points to a small stream running out of the forest to their right. "There. Or you could also cut a tree and get water that way."

19:00 GyroTech rolls his eyes and walks over to the stream. "Its easier to do this instead of cutting a tree." He pulls a flask out of bag and fills it water. After gulping some and refilling it, he began to heat the water. Once it began to steam he dropped a hoof up of leaves in. He fail to offer Zuthal anything.

19:03 Zuthal rolls his eyes at the stallion not offering him anything, but doesn't say anything, as he was pretty much expecting something like that from him. He sits down and leans against a tree, gazing into the sky. "It may be harder to do, but it is useful to know these skills. Especially if you tend to explore the forest. There is always a possibility you can get lost."

19:23 GyroTech shakes his head and rolls his eyes. "I don't think I'll ever let myself get trapped out here, but fine... Just to humor you, show me where I should cut." He says, levitating out the spent tea leaves and dropping them on the ground.

19:31 Zuthal nods and walks along the edge a bit, nodding once he finds a suitable tree. "Yes, this one should work," he says and takes a knife from his bags, and, holding it in one of his coils and using his hoof to hammer it in, carves a small, v-shaped notch into the tree, water quickly running out of it. He the sticks a small wooden stick into it to guide the water, and steps back from it. "There, that's pretty much it. Just place your canteen o r what have you so that the water from the stick drips into it, and it'll fill it up pretty quick."

19:41 GyroTech watches with slight interest as Zuthal works and gives a nod. "Well that seems easy enough..." The unicorn finds a spot on the tree and begins to channel his magic, drilling a couple inch hole into it before replicating the v cut. "Like that?" he asks?

19:43 Zuthal nods at him. "No, it should be much steeper, and you are making it too deep. Yes, a deeper cut will give water faster, but it will also permanently harm the tree. But it should at least work. Now you need a short stick, with the bark shaved off and both ends sharpened to a point, and you stick it in, nice and deep."

19:48 GyroTech grins at the revelation and as he searches for a suitable twig to whittle away at, he says, "So really I should make it deeper so I don't have to wait. There are plenty of trees in this forest after all." He slow carv w up a stick and presses it in gingerly with a hoof.

19:51 Zuthal shakes his head. "No. Not at all. Not all trees are suitable for this technique, and you need to think of what that could do. Sure, one tree won't be too bad, but if many ponies kept this up, for a few months? The forest would be decimated. And you need to push the stick in quite strongly, so it won't fall out."

19:55 GyroTech grins devilishly in response, pushing on the stick harder. "That would be great. The monsters would be forced to find some other place to lurk, leaving us free and safe forever." He argues back excitedly"

19:57 Zuthal bonks the stallion upside the head with a hoof, quite hardly so, too. "You don't get it, do you? This forest and its wildlife are not some evil to be purged. They are something you arrange yourself with, something you live in harmony with. And besides, you do not know what lurks in these woods, what this forest can do. I don't think you'd survive if you tried to cut it down."

20:10 GyroTech winces at the blow, stumbling back some. "Of course it's an evil to be purged. If it can't be controlled like the weather or the other wildlife or the plants of Equestria, then it's a source of disorder and disharmony that should be purged."

20:16 Zuthal glares at him, following him and forcing him to back up, into the forest. "Do you really think that? Disorder has to exist, just like order does. You are so ignorant. If you lived like I do, you wouldn't think like that. You do not have to control everything, you can also just arrange yourself with the circumstances. Live with nature, instead of against it."

20:22 GyroTech rolls his eyes at Zuthals glare, glare, not really retreating except upon physical contact from th e stallion. "Disorder doesn't have to exist. We have proven that well and good. Look at the beauty that is equestria. Our nation is a thousand times more proserous with a fully manicured society. Living with nature is inefficient when you can just control nature and bend it to your collective will."

20:24 Zuthal snorts and pokes a hoof against his chest. "Oh yes, you and your perfect society. Except that there are always things you will not be able to correct. There will always be things out of your control. And you... you just freak out over it, because you think you can control anything. Which you cannot."

20:33 GyroTech refuses to retreat any further, standing up to the poking of his hoof and instead snorting and pushing it down. "You're right, not everything can be controlled, like this forest here. I dont know why Celestia hasn't had all these harmony forsaken places remain for so long, when we could purge them all. It doesn't make much sense."

20:38 Zuthal snorts and pushes back against him again, pushing the stallion back. "Because the princesses have the sense that you apparently lack. They know that those forests are important, and, more importantly, that if you were to threaten such a place, it would fight back."

21:10 GyroTech grunts each time he's shoved backwards, only noticing in the back of his mind that the entrance to the forest was fading out of sight. "I mean yes, we'd probably need to harvest seeds from some of the plants first since they have some properties useful to stripies or whatever, but overall I don't think it'd be that big of a losd"

21:12 Zuthal shakes his head, still pushing the unicorn further in, until the exit was fully out of sight. "You truly do not understand. The very forest has a mind of its own. It will resist any attempt to tame it. I have heard tales of ponies who tried to forcibly tame a similarly wild place. Hundreds were lost."

21:15 GyroTech shrugs in an uncaring manner. "And how many more were saved by their sacrifice for pacifying such a wild place?"

21:16 < GyroTech> He then soon realized that he couldn't see the exit anymore and shivers. "I think we can stop this silly argument. I think we should get home..."

21:18 Zuthal says, with a tone as hard as stone "They did not. The effort failed, completely. Nothing at all was gained. And as for going back... let's see if you can find the exit. Tip: moss grows on the north side of trees," he says as he flies up through a hole in the canopy, flying away into the wrong direction first before turning once he is out of sight of GyroTech.

21:25 GyroTech tries walking straight forward, instead of following the direction the tatzl went. The unicorn hopes that he didn't get turned around as he walked on.

21:27 Zuthal watches through the trees as the unicorn seemingly aimlessly wanders around in the forest, chuckling inwardly a bit.

21:30 GyroTech sighs in irritation, grumbling to himself as he realizes he's completely lost. "I bet if I set one of these on fire somepony will come to put it out..." He begins to heat up one of the branches.

21:39 GyroTech soon lights the branch on fire in full view of Zuthal, black smoke beginning to rise into the air.

21:40 Zuthal sees the fire and flies up, quickly collecting a few clouds, compacting them into quite a dark one, positioning right above GyroTech's position and then giving it a firm kick, causing it to rain its contents down upon him, quickly dousing the fire and drenching the unicorn.

21:44 GyroTech shivers as it begins to rain on him and looks up to see the new dark spot, shouting angrily. "Zuthal, I know you're up there. Come down and help me please!)

21:44 Zuthal chuckles and gives the cloud a small push, sending it slowly floating off into the direction of the forest's edge. "Just follow the rain."

21:51 GyroTech sighs and does his best to follow the rain, getting completely drenched on his way out of the woods.

21:52 Zuthal was hiding in another cloud, watching the drenched Gyro as he came out of the forest, chuckling at the sight

21:55 GyroTech brightens as he makes it out of the woods, shivering slightly, with his mane completely ruined, but at least he was out.

21:56 Zuthal gets out of the cloud and flies off towards his house, the unicorn might be able to see him, might not.

21:59 GyroTech isn't paying attention to the sky as he heads home, instead concentrating on keeping a steady heat on his fur to dry off. At last he opens the door with a sigh.
